People have been successful at catching not only small mouth bass, but large mouth bass as well. If you are fishing in certain highland reservoirs with little coverage, grubs are a good choice for bait.

A great fishing tip that all fisherman can use is to practice different types of casting. It is important to learn to cast from different angles and distances to give yourself the best chances of presenting your bait in the exact location you want to. The difference between a bite and nothing can often be a few inches.

Many expert fishermen use lighter grubs. Grubs that are white, yellow, chartreuse, smoke, and salt and pepper tend to be very effective. Grubs with translucent bodies often have metallic flecks that reflect light and increase your chances of success. If nothing seems to be biting, choose a grub which is the same color as the water.

You should wet your line before tying a knot. This will help reduce how much friction is put on the string when tying a knot. It also gives the knot strength. When you pick out a knot, try clinch knots or double fisherman’s knots.

TIP! If you do not want to keep fish but still want to show off what you caught, bring a camera. This way, you can return the fish to its home, but it will give you something to show everybody back home.

A fisherman should wear clothing that is similar to his surroundings. Fish are not colorblind; therefore, bright colors can scare them away. Use neutral tones that blend into a natural background.

If you are fishing in the winter months, you should use some sinkers on your fishing rig. Sinkers will weigh down the line and allow bait to go deeper, hitting the warm waters where fish hide during the winter. The most adventurous size of the sinker will depend on how deep the water is.

Bigger Fish

For catching larger fish, use larger bait. Large bait may cost more, but you may catch a bigger fish. This is logical, since generally bigger fish eat bigger things. So, naturally, they will be attracted to larger pieces of bait.

TIP! Make sure you bring along a net so that you catch fish on your fishing trips. Using a net makes it much easier to secure jumpy fish.

Wet your line prior to tying a knot. This fortifies the knot and cuts down on friction caused by the process of tying the knot. You can use either the clinch knot or, if you prefer, try the double fisherman’s knot.

Clouds are good for you when you are fishing. Cloudy days tend to cast shadows over the water, meaning that fish are spending more time searching for food. The extended length of time that the fish are visible during their meal times will enable you to lock in to their location more quickly. It is important that the water you are fishing in is warm enough to allow the fish to be actively looking for food.

TIP! The best time to engage in a break while fishing is at noon. That is when the sun is at an unfavorable angle and fish are more aware of your presence.

TIP! Fish during the best weather and at the best time to help you catch the most fish. In the case of bass, the bigger fish are more likely to come out at dawn and dusk when their preferred bait fish are also more active.

If you are reeling in a big fish that turns in the other direction, let it go. Here you will find that it’s too late for reel and pump action. Remember to use a little patience before you begin to reel a large catch in the next time.

Try different methods of casting as a means of casting your lure with the least amount of splash and noise. If your lure makes a loud noise when it hits the surface of the water, it will actually scare fish away, rather than attract them. Many techniques for casting utilize the wrist to cast flawlessly.

TIP! Night fishing is a great experience if you want to try something different. A head lamp can give you the light you need to see, along with any lights you have available on your boat.

Time and temperature are key factors in fishing success. For instance, bass tend to be most active at dusk and dawn, since their favorite bait fish are generally available during this time. A water temperature of 50 degrees or above is the most favorable for fishing during these times.

For a different fishing experience from a favorite location, try casting your line at night. Buy a head lamp in order to see what you are doing, and keep your boat lights on. You may find that the fish you catch are drastically different from what you see on a daytime fishing trip.

Avoid expensive equipment if you are just starting out with fishing. You don’t need to have an expensive rod; in fact, it’s not a wise purchase. Start with a good-quality, mid-range rod. Then, if you decide you enjoy your new hobby, you can invest in better equipment.

Bait Colors

TIP! You should consider using a net or a gaff to land bigger fishes. The gaff allows you to secure the fish and lift it from the water with ease.

Fish can be very particular at times, so switching up your bait colors is a great way to attract more bites. Some fish love brightly-colored bait, while others go crazy for dull colors. So, when fixing your tackle box, be sure to include a lot of bait colors.

When fishing, make sure no litter enters the fishing environment. When there’s a lot of debris and garbage in the water, it could make the fish move away from that particular area. This stops you from catching fish and the people around you also.

TIP! If you are going to fish in a new location, stop by a local bait and tackle shop and talk with the fishermen there for their local wisdom. Be friendly to everyone and buy a few things from the local store, such as fishing flies or a hat.

Since the most important part of fly fishing is casting until you catch something, it is vital that you perfect your cast before you even get started. Matte lures can be equally as effective while they won’t scare off as many fish as a metallic lure would, so consider using both when you fish.

A Good Day Fishing

A Good Day Fishing

I love to mountain bike and camp. I have a 26 foot toy hauler camper, which is my version of camping, flat screen TV, fridge and shower. These two activities put me quite often in the same vicinity of fishing. I did not see the attraction, why would I want to sit on the side of a lake with a Lamiglas fishing rod when I could be on my bike. One day I decided to see what this fishing hype was all about, so I decided to get a fishing rod. I found a place that has a huge selection of Lamiglas rods. Who would have thought that there could be so many? Lamiglas is the number one producer of technique specific rods in the world, but what was my need? I looked on the internet to learn that the lakes where I bike are stocked with bass, amongst others, but bass sounded good. That greatly reduced the number of choices. The first thing I noticed was there were a lot of choices of combinations of “action” and “power”.

Action refers to the amount of flex the rod exhibits under load, and where it occurs in the length of the rod. On an “Extra Fast” action rod the flex will be more focused at the tip, this would be ideal if you were fishing where the fish has a lot of cover the he will have to be pulled out of. On a “Fast” action rod the flex will be on the top 25%, on “Moderate” action the flex will more toward the middle of the rod, this additional flex will make casting easier. Power is defined as the amount of pressure required to flex the rod. The heavier the line and lure the more power needed to fight and pull. A lighter line and lure would need less power. I was looking for relaxation, something about heavy fighting and pulling seemed to counter the relaxation I was looking for. Looking over all of the rods the Lamiglas G200 Graphite, seemed like the rod for me, Moderate / Fast action and Medium / Light power perfect middle of the road and the price was very good. I then decided on an Okuma Ignite reel to complete my package. I got all squared away with hooks, weights, floats and lures, as I was not really wanting to cut worms and stick them on hooks, I want to be a clean fisherman.

I headed over to the lake with all of my new found treasures, plus a few things I already had in my trailer; folding chair, beer, a cigar & music. I found a beautiful spot; set up my chair turned on the music (softly), opened the beer and set about trying to figure the fishing thing out. The Lamiglas fishing rod was the easiest thing to assemble then came the weight, float and lure. After I was all set, I light my cigar and settled down to fish with the Lamiglas G200 Graphite Casting Rod. I would throw the lure as far as I could, I guess the weight helps for that (sure was easy with this rod), slowly reel it in (the reel I used really complimented the flexible tip of the Lamiglas rod), throw as far as I could and slowly reel it in. This was not that bad, I did have to go back for another cold beer, next time I would bring two. After about an hour of this I decided I had enough. I packed everything up, and headed back to my camper. Thinking what a great time I had, good thing I did not screw it up by catching one of those pesky fish. I definitely chose the right rod for a day to relax.

All in all the Lamiglas G200 Graphite Casting Rod is a great rod for first time users who just like to go out for a day of relaxation without the hassle of learning all the ins & outs of fishing.

Have you ever thought about learning how to fish, but do not understand how? Don’t worry, fishing is an easy sport to learn and enjoy. Because fishing is a diverse hobby, it accommodates those of varied levels of knowledge and skill. This article can provide you with the tips you need to enhance your fishing experience.

TIP! Fishing along the shoreline of a river or lake can yield amazing results. Fish who catch insects will find the most food in these areas, so try to cast your lure near the edge where you will be able to get the most bites.

Remove the tail from your bait before putting it on the hook if you’re fishing with shad. This prevents the bait from tangling due to spin as it goes further into the water. In addition, you can use the cut tail as scent to attract the fish to the bait.

Wearing camouflage might seem like something that should be done only for hunting, but it also works well with fishing. Fish do not see overly well, but they do see colors, so avoid wearing bright colors or obvious patterns that could alert the fish or scare them away. Wear earth tones.

TIP! Look for the right place to catch a fish, then cast upstream of it. The bait and hook will be moved past the fish by the water.

Find out your boat’s maximum weight capacity before going out on the water. A swamped or tipped boat can be a catastrophe, especially if you are in deep water. Always give yourself a margin of error when it comes to weight.

Be quiet when fishing. More than just about any other disturbance, a loud noise will scare fish fast. Sitting quietly and even keeping your voice at a whisper will help you to keep fish closer and more likely to grab your line!

TIP! Always check the weather before going on a fishing trip so that you can be sure that you will be safe. Taking a radio can be helpful as well, to make sure you aren’t caught off guard by a sudden change in weather.

Be responsible when you fish. You should maintain and preserve any environment you fish in. Don’t throw trash in the water after finishing food you brought for yourself. Make sure to learn what the regulations and rules are regarding the body of water you are fishing and adhere to these rules. Put small fish back as you can’t eat them anyway.

Be sure that you are aware of the fishing laws in the area that you are going to be fishing in. Many areas are restricted or have limits that you need to be aware of. Regulations are typically found through the fishing and wildlife departments of your state, and are often available online.

TIP! Most fish respond well to live bait. Fish eat whatever insects live locally near a body of water.

Remember to release fish you would not necessarily use. As a matter of courtesy, release small fish and fish that you don’t really need to keep; don’t keep excessive numbers of fish. If you control the amount of fish that you remove from a lake, it helps to ensure that there will be plenty of fish for future seasons.

Anyone fishing should learn how to properly set the hook. A nice fast hook is key to fishing, especially with lures. Unless you do not follow through to ensure that the hook is set properly, you may very well lose your fish!

TIP! A novice fisherman should take the time to learn all he can prior to going fishing. Research the finer points of fishing.

Before you tie a knot, wet your line. This reduces the friction for easier tying and also strengthens the knot. The double fisherman’s knot or the clinch knot are two popular knots to try.

Clouds are a fisher’s friend. An overcast sky means fish are more likely to have to work harder to find their food in the dark, murky water. This means that fish take longer to feed, and there is a greater chance they will come across your baited hook. It will always be best if you choose a time when the waters are generally warm, so fish will feel more free to move about in the water.

TIP! Carefully choose which fish you will keep and which fish you will release. It is good practice to release smaller fish and also if you’ve already caught your limit.

You always need to make sure that you have sharp hooks when you go fishing. Even if you have done everything just right, dull hooks can ruin your chances of catching the fish you desire. To keep your hooks sharp, either sharpen the hooks regularly or change out hooks often. A fisherman’s friend while fishing will be a sharp hook.

Remember to bring a net for your fish the next time you go fishing. Using a net makes it much easier to secure jumpy fish. This can help reduce the chances that you lose your fish back into the water.

TIP! Improved clinch knots are great for placing lures or hooks onto the line. All you have to do is slip your line through the eye of the hook and turn the hook five times and then run the end of the line through your fist loop.

If you find yourself impatient and you are having trouble sitting still when you fish, allow yourself to move to a new location every hour. This keeps your mind refreshed, changes the scenery and gives you the ability to stay focused. You might find the perfect spot!

Be sure that you are not littering the ground with trash when you go fishing. When there is a lot of garbage and debris in the water, fish will not be attracted to that particular area. This will decrease the chance of you, or anyone else, catching fish.

TIP! Clouds are a fisher’s friend. When the sky is cloudy, the waters are dimmer, and fish must work harder to find food.

As stated before in the introduction, do not feel bad if you don’t know how to fish. It is not difficult to start out as a beginner. Fishing has something offer fishermen of all skill levels, and there are many ways to get started, so just put these tips to use and find out what works for you.

Stay calm when you are wrestling with a big fish. When the fish is trying to swim away, do not fight it and try to reel it in. You want to try and let your rod’s drag do all of the work for you. When your hook has been set, you can set the drag. Keep your road located at a 45 degree angle relative to the lake and aim it at the fish.

TIP! If your fishing spot is full of plants, fishing can become an irritating experience. While these might be bothersome and snag your line, fish love eating bugs that loom around these plants, which would make it more likely that you will catch a greater amount of fish.

The phase of the moon may not turn people into werewolves, but it will definitely influence your fishing experience. The overall best time for fishing is during a full moon, as fish tend to be quite active during this time. Be aware that this will make you more visible.
